Prior to joining the Jeffco DeAngelis Center Foundation as Executive Director and Business Manager, Shawna has volunteered for the organization since our formation. Shawna’s professional background includes consulting on nonprofit management, grant management, communications, IT administration, human resources, commercial real estate development, and construction management.
Shawna joined in supporting the Jeffco DeAngelis Foundation due to her advocacy for school safety and the incredible work of the Jeffco Schools safety and security team. She believes that if our organization can share our expertise with others, school and community safety will be improved for everyone. “As school safety is the number one concern of families, the work of the Jeffco DeAngelis Foundation is crucial and the best work I can spent my time supporting!”
Shawna has served as Jeffco Council PTA as President, Treasurer, VP of Membership, VP of Communications, Articulation Area Vice President, and Legislative Chair. She was Colorado PTA Treasurer from 2015-2017 and worked for National PTA as a Regional Advocacy Specialist on the Government Affairs Team. She has served on several school district committees including Choice Committee, Data Management Advisory Council, Citizen’s Budget Academy, Jeffco Leadership Academy, Jeffco Schools 2020, SPAC, 1338 (Evaluations), DAC, Calendar Committee, School Safety Task Force, School Safety Study Group, and Jeffco University. She was the Colorado ESSA Spoke Committee Parent Rep Volunteer for both Standards and Assessment Spoke Committees and participated in the Reading, Writing and Communicating Standards Committee with the Colorado Department of Education. She has volunteered for and chaired several school campaigns, local nonprofits, and continues to enjoy volunteering in school classrooms.
