Ron Mitchell

Ron grew up in Jefferson County and attended Jeffco Public Schools, graduating from Arvada High School in 1963. In 1969, Ron returned from military training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri and accepted a teaching position at Arvada West High School. After three years of teaching, he became an Assistant Principal at Arvada High School. He was an A.P. for eight years in three schools, serving as Athletic Director in two high schools, before becoming the Principal at Alameda High School. He served the Alameda High School community for ten years. Ron left Alameda to become the Principal at Columbine High School where he served for eight years before going to the central office as an Area Administrator.

Throughout his career, Ron worked with, supported and learned from some of the best educators in the state of Colorado. He attributes his successes to the role models and mentors he was blessed to work with in Jeffco Public Schools and across the state. Health concerns caused him to retire early from the central office in 1998. However, his good health returned and he worked for the next twelve years as a fill-in administrator for Jeffco Public Schools. His love of the school district led him to run for a school board seat in 2015. He served on the school board for five years from 2015 to 2020 serving as the President of the school board for four of those years. Ron claims he has loved to go work every day of his career because of the quality of the professionals he worked with in Jefferson County Public Schools.
