Jef Fugita

Jef Fugita is a retired Jeffco Schools educator. He started his working career in the Human Resources software industry. When he realized his heart yearned to be in education, he got a Teacher’s License and never looked back. Jef’s education career began as a classroom teacher and throughout his career he served students at all three levels as a middle school assistant principal, an elementary principal and a high school principal. In addition, Jef worked as an Assistant Director of Assessment & Research, an Achievement Director supervising schools and principals, and the Executive Director of Curriculum & Instruction. Jef believes a passion for education, as well as teamwork, and leading with integrity make a difference in everything he works on. He is particularly proud of his work to create and lead the statewide Graduation Guidelines implementation committee that supported the implementation of the current state graduation requirements.

He continues to support students in Jeffco and across the state of Colorado. He is currently serving in a one-year interim Associate Principal role at Warren Tech. He also supports new teachers as a student teacher coordinator for a state university. He is also a principal coach as part of the principal leadership institute with the Colorado Department of Education. Additionally, Jef served as a board member for the Front Range BOCES. Jef has also served on the state committee for the Learning Forward National Conference for both 2021 and the upcoming conference in December of 2024.
Jef is a proud Colorado native. He and his wife raised their son and daughter in Jefferson County and both kids are proud graduates of Standley Lake High School.
