Arvada Police Department Deputy Chief to Receive Inaugural Community Safety Champion of the Year Award from the Jeffco DeAngelis Foundation

Deputy Chief AJ DeAndrea will receive the award March 20, 2023 at 6:00pm at the Arvada City Council Meeting, located at 8101 Ralston Rd., Arvada, CO 80002.

Feb. 16, 2023 – Lakewood, CO – The Jeffco DeAngelis Foundation is pleased to announce that Deputy Chief AJ DeAndrea of the Arvada Police Department is the recipient of the inaugural Community Safety Champion of the Year award. This award will be given annually by the Jeffco DeAngelis Foundation to individuals that have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to community safety.

The award presentation will take place at the Arvada City Council Meeting on March 20, 2023 at 6:00pm.

Deputy Chief AJ DeAndrea has been instrumental in the creation and development of tactics and training programs that support school and community safety across North America.  DeAndrea has been involved in the creation of peer support programs and mental health support tools for first responders in the aftermath of tragedy and has provided critical support to communities across the country following mass casualty events supporting preparedness, response, and recovery.

DeAndrea’s Single Officer Response to an Active Shooter Training is recognized throughout Colorado and across the U.S and Canada as a premier program for law enforcement and school safety professionals. The Jeffco DeAngelis Foundation is proud to host this life saving program at the Frank DeAngelis Center for Community Safety at no charge for first responders, thanks to State of Colorado grants and private donations.
