Stephanie Cavallaro

Stephanie Cavallaro is currently the director of alternative teacher licensure at Metropolitan State College of Denver. This is her 34th year in education. She began her career as a middle school teacher, held district leadership positions and served as a high school and elementary administrator. She also served as the principal of Sobesky Academy, a K-12 school for students identified with Serious Emotional Disabilities.

Each of those roles increasingly demanded the acquisition of knowledge and skill in the area of trauma in order to support learning environments where all students were not only safe, but able to learn.

Through understanding trauma and how it affects behavior and learning, we can work effectively with children and adults and help them gain the self-knowledge and skill to overcome trauma, build resilience and lead healthy productive lives. This work makes the world a safer place for all of us.
